About

DoorCrafters focuses exclusively on wood recessed elevator flush frames, refining every detail to ensure accuracy, compatibility, and long-term durability.

With standard, notched, and Atlas-ready series, we provide tailored solutions that integrate cleanly with today’s residential elevator systems.

Our Frame Series

Series 100

The Series 100 Flush Frame is designed for use with Porta or Honeywell interlocks and provides a clean, precise rough opening for residential elevator installations. Built from quality wood species and available in standard frame depths of 4-9/16” and 6-9/16”, this series delivers consistent fit and dependable performance. Frames ship knocked down for field assembly and are supplied unfinished unless primed options are selected. Optional Z-brackets are available to accommodate installation requirements.

Series 200

The Series 200 Flush Frame includes a precision notch designed to accommodate interlock Z-brackets, providing added flexibility for installations requiring that configuration. Engineered for use with Porta or Honeywell interlocks, this series maintains the same dimensional standards and material options as the Series 100 while adding installation-specific adaptability. Custom color Z-brackets are available for additional configuration needs. Like all DoorCrafters frames, Series 200 units ship knocked down for efficient transport and field assembly.

Series 300

The Series 300 Flush Frame is specifically designed for compatibility with Atlas interlocks, offering a dedicated solution for projects utilizing this trusted system. This configuration ensures accurate integration within the rough opening while maintaining the clean, flush appearance required for residential installations. Available in standard frame depths and multiple wood species, the Series 300 provides installers with a purpose-built option tailored to Atlas hardware requirements. Frames ship unfinished unless primed selections are specified.

Customization & Applications

DoorCrafters frames are built to meet the specific demands of each project. Primed Pine is often selected as a standard option; we regularly fabricate custom frames in Red Oak, Birch, Maple, Alder, Cherry, Hickory, Walnut, and White Oak to match existing trim/interior finishes. Each species is chosen and crafted to ensure seamless architectural integration.

Our frames are designed for both new construction and retrofit applications. In new builds, frames are typically installed prior to drywall to ensure the rough opening is properly sized for a precise flush fit. For remodels and existing hoistways, we offer custom-fabricated solutions — including knock-down kits — that allow for easier transport and efficient on-site assembly while maintaining exact fitment.

Custom-Engineered

For projects requiring unique dimensions, alternative wood species, or specialized configurations, DoorCrafters offers fully custom-designed flush frames built to specification. Whether adapting to architectural constraints, uncommon interlock requirements, or distinctive design preferences, each custom frame is engineered for precise integration and structural reliability. Custom wood species, frame sizes, and bracket configurations are available upon request. Every project is fabricated with the same commitment to accuracy and performance as our standard series.

Key Features

Our flush frames are engineered with both safety and design in mind. Frames are pre-routed or drilled as required to accommodate electro-mechanical interlocks (EMDL) and code-mandated locking devices, ensuring streamlined compliance and efficient installation. Using consistent wood species and finishes across landing doors and surrounding trim, we help maintain a cohesive, architecturally integrated interior.

For projects requiring a professional finish, we offer factory-applied stains as well as paint-ready options such as Poplar for clean, consistent results. Whether you need a specific wood species to match an existing interior or rough opening dimensions for a particular door size, our team will assist.
